We obtained The Krayt Fang, a poorly-maintained but customizable vessel equipped with quad laser cannons. In the vessel’s second cargo hold, we found a medpack, a general purpose scanner, electric binoculars, a trandoshan respirator, 2 glow rods, and a tool kit. Inside the crew quarters, we found a wampa skin rug, another glow rod, 2 extra reloads for a heavy blaster pistol, and 5,000 credits. Inside engineering, we found a hand scanner and four broken droids: two astromechs, a protocol droid, and a battle droid. Inside the third cargo hold, we found 7 sets of binders.
Ido Kath puts on one of the fallen storm trooper’s helmets and uses the comm link inside to contact one of troopers’ comrades. By pretending to be one of the troopers and claiming that a powerful blow from the wookie has addled his mind, he tries to get the troop’s contact to reveal why they were after the party. All the contact says is that they got an order from command.
While TarBecca hides, the rest of the party approaches the Krayt Fang, which is guarded by two droids. They ask the droids to summon Trex, who shows up quickly. Sedrin clams Teemo has asked them to repair Trex’s ship and wants to speak to Trex in person to give him an urgent mission. Trex knows that Teemo is away from his palace, so he sees through the latter part of Sedrin’s lie. However, when Sedrin shows him the part the party recovered from the junk yard, Trex agrees to let Sedrin, Ryan and EG-1 on board to install it.
As EG-1 repairs the hyper drive with admirable speed, Ryan tries to convince Trex to give him access to the main computer, claiming he needs to help integrate the hyper matter drive modulator with the computer system. Trex realizes the slicer has other motives and boots him from the ship.
TarBecca steps out of hiding to waste the two droids guarding the ship, a task he accomplishes quickly with help from Ryan and Ido. Following a plan suggested by Sedrin, the two contact Sedrin to let Trex know a wild wookie is attacking his security droids. Trusting that Trex will leave the ship to investigate, they move behind cover to ambush the trandoshan.
As Trex leaves his vessel, Sedrin follows to add his firepower to the group. As he engages Trex with the TarBecca and Ido, EG-1 finishes repairing the hyper drive and Ryan sneaks around the slaver, boards the ship and hacks into its computers. He soon discovers it has a tracking device that is sending information to Teemo and several minor mechanical problems. Using the ship’s computer, the slicer locates the device and reprograms it to transmit every hour instead of every five minutes.
Outside the vessel, the wookie, Ido, and Sedrin attack the slaver. Despite being heavily outnumbered, the trandoshan brings the wookie close to unconsciousness with well-aimed shots from his heavy blaster pistol. Before he can land the finishing blow, Ido blinds him with his holo messenger, causing him to trip and fall backward. Surrounded and angry at Ido, the trandoshan drops his blaster pistol and claws at Ido. His attack draws blood but leaves him open, allowing the raging wookie to finish him.
As Trex falls, the party hears stormtroopers marching down the corridor. Abandoning all hope of removing Teemo’s transponder, the party rushes on board the ship and blasts off.
Not wanting to stay in Tatooine, the party decides to make the jump to hyperspace as soon as possible. With the ship’s meager fuel and poorly-maintained navicomputer, they have only one logical destination: the twi’lek homeworld of Ryloth. Sedrin plots a course to it with help from Ido.
As the two work out a course, the party discovers four Tie fighters flying toward them. The fighters manage to strike before the party has a chance to respond, striking with such ferocity they destroy half the ship’s armor. Ryan and TarBecca rush to the gun turrets, where Ryan quickly destroys one of the fighters. From his position in engineering, EG-1 repairs some of the damage caused by the opening salvo and redirects the vessel’s deflectors to its rear. Coupled with Sedrin’s piloting, these shields keep the remaining fighters from landing another shot. As a result, the party is able to enter hyper space without any additional damage. They leave behind three tie fighters and the large capital ship that presumably hosts the fighters.
As Krayt Fang enters hyperspace, the ship’s computer warns them that a prisoner is on board and advises them to turn back to collect the associated bounty. Ryan recognizes the prisoner’s name as that of a twi’lek “freedom fighter” or terrorist who wants the profits from the twi’lek’s ryll mines to go to twi’leks rather than foreign crime lords.
Most of the party decides to do something about one of the ship’s many problems: The smell of dead bodies. The wookie quickly discovers a hidden compartment containing the untanned hides and rotting flesh of four of his companions. After hugging each, he ejects the skins of his fallen brothers from the ship.
Meanwhile, EG-1 searches the ship for the prisoner. Finding him in less-than-perfect condition, the droid releases him from his force cage to patch him up. Eventually, Ryan discovers the droid’s move and demands to know why he has let the prisoner go. The droid explains that he needed heeling, then heads toward engineering to work on the four broken droids the party has discovered there.
Ryan, Sedrin and Ido talk to the prisoner, who offers to repair and refuel the ship if they will drop him off in a city on Ryloth where he has friends that can keep him safe. Ryan tries to push for additional payments, but Sedrin says the deal seems reasonable. Ido tries to convince Ryan that helping the twi’lek freedom fighters will increase the crew’s long-term profits by encouraging the twi’leks to give them high-paying jobs. While Ryan concedes the point, he storms off, irritated at his companions’ lack of greed and Ido’s limited skillset.
The ship continues through hyperspace toward Ryloth, its transponder sending its location to Teemo every hour. Will the party manage to survive the hutt’s retaliation? Will they find useful allies on Ryloth or only discover more trouble? Find out next time on Episode 4: Ryloth!
